Niocad

Description:

After many years of research, development and prototyping, we have now completed our first commercial product, NioPulse. We have moved from our lab in the University of Stellenbosch and we have established our company, NioCAD.

Our central idea of efficient design, collaboration and synergy keeps us together and it builds our culture.

NioCAD (Pty) Ltd is a private company, founded in 2009.

It started as a research and development project at Stellenbosch University in 2001 and was funded by the South African National Research Foundation’s Innovation Fund from 2007.

NioCAD is located in Stellenbosch, South Africa, and develops Electronic Design Automation (EDA) and Computer Aided Design (CAD) software for emerging technologies and has a strong focus on integration, automation and collaboration.

Our first product, NioPulse, focuses on superconductive digital electronics. We plan to support analogue circuit design for superconductive sensors, filters and RF/microwave components.

Our mission is to significantly improve the way engineering design is accomplished. Our architecture enables scientists and engineers to optimize the potential of their ideas rapidly.

NioCAD provides expertise in science and engineering, software development, project management and technical communication.

NioCAD was conceived and developed in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Stellenbosch University. The University is situated in the picturesque town of Stellenbosch, which is nestled between the majestic mountains and sprawling winelands of the Western Cape of South Africa.

The founding members have worked together researching the fundamentals of NioCAD since 2000, but the first development funding was only received in February 2007. NioCAD was converted to private company on 1 August 2009.
